I am the Communications Coordinator for the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County, a state funded agency and nonprofit that helps families in Hillsborough find and finance quality early learning programs for their children.
I started my career as a journalist and spent four years running from town council meetings and environmental zoning hearings to Little League baseball games and the PTO annual fundraiser. Life on the beach kept me pretty busy.
While keeping my community informed was thrilling, I realized what my true passion is: finding causes I believe in and that need the help of a lens or a well-crafted message to bring attention to them. That has led me into the world of advocacy in nonprofit work.
I am a graduate from the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Originally a photojournalism student, I designed my own interest area which combined print and digital news reporting and photojournalism. In Fall 2013 I made my first-ever trip out of the country to study for a semester at Universitá Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, Italy. It was one of the most important decisions of my life and truly helped me grow in ways I could never have imagined.
I grew up in a farming town in a quiet, peaceful corner of Missouri. Besides photography and writing, I like a good paddle in a river, a starry sky above a tent, and spending time with my rescue animals.
